Every project begins with a different idea.Let’s talk about yours

02 / Custom commissions

Your space.
Your idea.
Our starting point.

A bench for an empty corner. A built-in that makes the room work. A piece you haven’t quite found.

We focus on local commissions, working with you to bring the proportions, materials, and practical details together.

Start a Commission
01

Start with a conversation.

Tell us what you have in mind, where it will live, and what matters to you.

02

Work through the details.

We’ll discuss the design, wood, dimensions, budget, and timing together.

03

Make it personal.

Once the direction is agreed, your idea becomes a piece made for your space.

03 / The maker

A return to
making by hand.

Fat Fox Woodworking is a small, independent studio owned and run by Ali G.

After about two decades working in technology, Ali returned to the creative, hands-on work he has always been drawn to. He has spent about seven years developing his woodworking craft and is now beginning to take on custom commissions.

A father of three, Ali grew up in Fairfax and lived in Washington, DC for nearly two decades. He has since returned to Northern Virginia, where he is building Fat Fox Woodworking as a one-person studio and pursuing the craft more seriously.

Have a project in mind?
Let’s start there.

A rough idea is enough. A few dimensions, a sketch, or a description of what you have in mind can help start the conversation.
